Dear Keewatin Elementary Families,
We are excited to announce that starting on Monday, October 21st, Keewatin Elementary will be holding a "Pennies for Veterans" coin drive! All proceeds will be donated to the Patriotic Kenny Foundation, a Minnesota-based non-profit organization that empowers veterans with mobility challenges by gifting them mobility scooters.
At our Veterans Day Program at the elementary on Monday, November 11th, we will proudly award a local Veteran with a mobility scooter in coordination with the Patriotic Kenny Foundation to help increase one Veteran’s independence and ability to regain access to life-changing support and resources.
If you know a Veteran within the Nashwauk-Keewatin School District who struggles with physical limitations, please consider nominating them on the Patriotic Kenny Foundation website https://www.patriotickenny.com/. Additionally, please email Brandi Lautigar, Nashwauk-Keewatin School Social Worker, at blautigar@isd319.org to inform us of your nomination.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our students/families to contribute and honor one of our local Veterans. Here is how the coin drive works (it is completely voluntary):
Monday, October 21st, students bring in PENNIES
Tuesday: NICKELS
Wednesday: DIMES
Thursday: QUARTERS
Friday: DOLLARS
Thank you in advance for your support!
Sincerely,
Brandi Lautigar

Beginning next week, library/media workshops will be held with Mrs. Anderson during the end of second hour and beginning of third hour (9:45-10:30). There are different topics each week, but each day within the week will be the same. This ensures flexibility for students to plan accordingly with their class work.
