Backpacks are to be stored in lockers during the school day. Students were issued a lock that can be placed on the locker to keep belongings safe inside the assigned locker. The handbook that the Nashwauk-Keewatin School Board approved states, “Backpacks, Heavy coats, Blankets: Students shall not bring backpacks (unless they are see-through), heavy or long jackets or blankets to class for safety reasons.” Students who choose not to follow the expectation, will receive a behavior referral and a consequence determined by administration. For further information, please see the handbook regarding backpacks.

Dear Families of NK,
Following our Mitigation Decision Model, the number of lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 has fallen below our 3% threshold for the district and the mask mandate will end on November 24th at 3:00 pm. Masks will be highly recommended beginning on November 29th. The recommendation will remain in place as long as the threshold outlined in the Mitigation Decision Model has not been reached.
A COVID-19 Vaccination clinic will be held in the Media Center at NKHS on December 9th from 2 pm to 4 pm. You can register for the clinic at www.co.itasca.mn.us.
