The Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award, commonly known as the Triple 'A' Award, honors high school seniors throughout the state who have a 3.0 or higher-grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.

Nomination Criteria:
To be eligible for the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award a student must:

be a high school senior at the time of nomination. Schools may nominate one senior boy and one senior girl for this award.

have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of nomination.

participate in at least one League-sponsored athletic program and one arts/activity program.

comply with the MSHSL's Student Code of Responsibilities.

complete the application form and submit it to Ms. Smith

Triple ‘A’ Recognition:
Two award finalists from each region (one boy and one girl) will be invited to a recognition banquet in March and League officials will announce the four statewide Triple ‘A’ Award winners at that time. All 32 finalists will also participate in an on-court ceremony during the Class AAA championship game of the Boys Basketball State Tournament. The statewide award winners—a girl and a boy from Class A and Class AA schools—will also receive a four-year $1,000 scholarship.

Again, if you are interested in applying for this, stop into the office and talk to Ms. Smith. The deadline for applying is Wednesday, October 29th.

Did you know October 5th - October 11th is Fire Prevention Week?
This week, our Preschool through 6th grade students took part in exciting, hands-on learning experiences for Fire Prevention Week! Students began in their classrooms, where they learned about the important gear firefighters wear, ways to prevent fires, and how to stay safe in an emergency. They also discussed the proper use of devices to help prevent fires in everyday life. To bring their learning to life, students had the opportunity to explore a fire truck, police car, and ambulance, meeting local first responders and seeing the equipment they use to keep our community safe. It was an engaging and memorable way to learn about safety and fire prevention!

We would like to send a big thank you to the Keewatin Fire Department, Nashwauk Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance, Keewatin Police Department, and Itasca County Sheriff's Office for providing this experience for our students!

Dear GNK Titan basketball families,
We are excited to announce that given the co-op agreement at the boys and girls high school level, we are also going to co-op at the youth levels. This move should lead to an even stronger and more enhanced basketball experience. The program will be administrated through the Greenway Joint Recreation Association and aims to foster the development of our young student athletes, promoting skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, community spirit, and a love for the game.
Boys and girls in grades K-2 will be participating in a house league. This is an introductory level program designed to teach basketball fundamentals. All athletes will meet 1-2 times per week, and practices will alternate equally between sites at Greenway and Nashwauk-Keewatin. Athletes will be divided into equal teams which will also scrimmage on Saturdays. The program begins the week of November 10th and will run through the 20th of December. The cost will be $35.00 which includes a jersey/shirt for the athlete to keep.
Boys and girls in grades 3-6 will play in the NEC (Northeast Conference). We plan to have boys’ teams at the 3rd/ 4th grade level as well as boys’ teams at the 5th/6th grade level. For girls, there will be teams at the 3rd/4th grade level and teams at the 5th/6th grade level. Practices will be held 2-3 times weekly and alternate equally between sites at Greenway and Nashwauk. In addition to practice time, the NEC is designed to elevate player development through competitive game play. Although the NEC has yet to release a schedule, the games will start the first Saturday in December and run through the end of February with host sites across the Iron Range. Our goal is to host one weekend date at each of our sites but has yet to be determined. The cost of this program is $85.00, and a team jersey will be provided and then collected at season’s end.
Additionally, we are looking for coaches so please reach out if you are interested.
Go to Greenway rec.org to register. Further information regarding the program may also be found on that site once the season has begun. This information can also be found on Facebook using the Greenway Rec Facebook page.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to:
